To obtain the desired academic degree, a PhD dissertation must comply with a number of clearly defined criteria. The expert committee carefully evaluates the work according to the following key points:

• Relevance of the topic. The selected research problem must be in demand in the modern world. There is no point in focusing on outdated or purely abstract issues.

• Practical significance. The results should not remain only theoretical. They should be applicable in real production, modern business, medicine, or the educational process.
• Validity of results. All proposed hypotheses must be convincingly substantiated. This involves mathematical calculations, large-scale experiments, and verified statistical data.
• Logical coherence of the research. Each stage must naturally follow from the previous one. The overall structure of the text must be consistent, without internal contradictions or logical gaps.

Each qualification study of this level follows a strict and unified standard. The typical structure of a PhD dissertation allows for a comprehensive presentation of the research topic.

The work always begins with an introduction. Here, the author clearly explains the choice of topic and justifies its relevance. The aim is defined, and the range of objectives is outlined. The introduction also specifies the object and subject of the research, as well as its methodology.

This is followed by the main body. It is usually divided into three or four major chapters. The first chapter provides the theoretical foundation. It includes a literature review and demonstrates the achievements of previous researchers. The following chapters present the author’s own practical work, including the description of experimental conditions, the development of new models, and original calculations. It is within these sections that the PhD dissertation acquires its primary value.

After the main text, conclusions are presented. This is a concise yet comprehensive summary of the entire research. The author provides clear answers to each objective set at the beginning.

The work concludes with an extensive list of references, which demonstrates the candidate’s theoretical scope. Appendices are placed at the end and include large tables, questionnaires, or technical drawings that would otherwise overload the main text.

In addition to strong academic content, the presentation of the material is of great importance. General formatting requirements remain highly rigorous:

• Approximate length. The text must be substantive and concise. Typically, the dissertation ranges from 150 to 200 pages, depending on the field.
• Academic writing style. The work must be written in a formal and professional manner. The use of colloquial expressions or emotional language is strictly prohibited.
• Citation and referencing rules. Every borrowed idea or figure must be accurately referenced. The use of external sources is strictly regulated by academic ethical standards.
• Originality requirements. The final text undergoes a thorough automated plagiarism check – the level of originality must be very high.
• Basic principles of reference list formatting. All sources must be carefully systematized. Typically, national DSTU standards or internationally recognized styles (such as APA) are used.
